What is Hypnotherapy?

You may be surprised to know that hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we all experience at different points during our day. Hypnosis is a state of relaxed focused attention akin to being absorbed in a really great book or daydreaming. The difference is that in hypnotherapy, your awareness is directed and guided by the therapist. In this state of heightened inward focus the therapist can give suggestions that can shift unhelpful belief systems within the subconscious mind without being rejected by the conscious or “critical thinking” mind.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Shifting any limiting belief systems that are holding you back from living life to the fullest.

It can work for phobias, anxiety and stress management, improved sleep, enhancing relationships, habit control, sexual issues, changing your relationship with food, self-acceptance, self-esteem and releasing emotional trauma.

What happens in a session?

My approach involves your participation and willingness to change. In an initial session I’m really looking to take the time to understand what’s going on for you. My initial sessions run for an hour and a half. We start with counselling to explore your presenting issue. I then guide you through hypnotherapy, which is much like a guided meditation. Then we debrief.
